My New Love of Photography

Growing up – I always wanted to draw but stick figures was the extent of my drawing ability and even then the sticks were not straight. Spending the summers in Fowlerville Michigan with my grandparents again kindled my want-a-be creative spirit

My grandmother was a seamstress extraordinaire and was commissioned to design and create entire bridal party attire including the men. Not only could she work wonders with her fingers sewing but she also inherited from her family’s bakery business a talent for baking. We never arrived without having homemade cinnamon buns right out of the oven ready when we walked in.

There was a very special drawer for us grand kids filled with all kinds of stuff to create whatever we could come up with. I wanted so much to make something wonderful, something others would be wowed about. Great ideas were not in short supply but getting them from my head into a creation was not easy and most of the time right down impossible. I could see what I wanted to do in my mind’s eye – but I just couldn’t implement.

Then came along my second carrier of Real Estate and I was faced with having to photograph homes presenting them in the best possible light. I was instantly fascinated – intrigued – excited! Was this a way I could finely reach into my mind’s eye and create? My friend and mentor Judith started me on my way with the basics and the right equipment. Following her lead, I am producing the pictures for all our listings and create my own Visual Tours. For now it is my business but someday I hope to do more as I learn from so many that have mastered their craft.

The moral of this story? Don’t ever give up on your dreams, wants and desires. When you least expect an answer – an event – or a happening – WOW – turn around and there it is right in front of you. Please share your WOW moments with us!
