Brevard, NC – “In an effort to help those in need, Oskar Blues Brewery canned up water, not beer, for a city in Michigan.
In response to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, the popular brewery partnered with the Ball Corporation and the CAN’d Aid Foundation to quickly can and ship clean drinking water to the Genesee County Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
A shipment of 50,000 cans was expected to arrive Tuesday. Employees at Oskar Blues’ Brevard location spent Monday preparing the water in cans donated by the Ball Corporation.
Oskar Blues launched craft-beer-in-a can with its flagship brew Dale’s Pale Ale in 1997 in Lyons, Colorado. Today, the brewery has operations in Longmont, Colorado and Brevard, North Carolina.
The CAN’d Aid Foundation is Oskar Blues’ nonprofit charitable entity. With its assistance, the brewery and its partners also were able to send drinking water relief to flood victims in South Carolina in October.”
