Brevard – Oskar Blues Brewery will host the inaugural Steep Canyon 50K & Relay Hullabaloo at REEB Ranch on Sept. 10. The all-day event includes a 50K (31-mile) ultra-run and three-person relay race starting at noon, followed by live music, beer, food and camping.
The race will kick off the 10th annual Mountain Music Festival, which is Sept. 11-13. All of the proceeds benefit the CAN’d Aid Foundation, a nonprofit started by Oskar Blues that focuses on nationwide “do-goodery” through five program areas including getting people outdoors.
Runners will complete 10-mile loops around Oskar Blues Brewery’s scenic 145-acre REEB Ranch (barn in photo above), which features mountain views, trails, waterfalls and an 1,800 foot gain per lap. Early registration is $72 online at www.ultrarunsignup.com through July 31.
For non-runners, Hullabaloo will have music starting at 5pm. Advance tickets are $20/person (children younger than 10 admitted free with a adult). Rustic camping is available for $15 per tent. For details, visit www.steepcanyou50K.com.
